What is CBD?
CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol. This substance is one of more than 100 different cannabinoids found in the hemp or cannabis plant. The exact effects of CBD are under the microscope at numerous research institutions around the world. Experts there are trying to answer questions such as whether CBD is suitable for therapeutic use. And if so, what doses of CBD can medical professionals recommend?
Yes, CBD is produced from cannabis. But don’t worry. CBD won’t make you addicted or get you high. It has also been proven not to be psychoactive. In fact, the opposite is actually true: it is believed that high doses of CBD actually counteract the effects of THC. THC is the psychoactive substance that can be derived from cannabis.

CBD by Calmiva
You can take Calmiva’s CBD yourself or give it to your loved ones completely hygienically, using the bottle’s spray function. The body absorbs nothing other than the pure CBD product.
From Calmiva, you get so-called full-spectrum CBD oils. These are extracted gently from the female hemp flower and contain all the active ingredients present in hemp. This part of the cannabis plant has the highest density of terpenes and cannabinoids. It has been proven that humans have been taking advantage of the beneficial properties of terpenes for around 6,000 years. Archaeologists have found traces of them in ancient Egyptian tombs, in the essential oils used for embalming bodies.
CBD and the entourage effect
Have you ever heard the phrase “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”? That’s what the entourage effect is all about. CBD is one of the most popular compounds found in the hemp plant, but it’s not the only one. It has been established that the interaction of all 100+ cannabis compounds (including terpenes) strengthens their overall effect. In medicine, this is referred to as a synergistic effect, and in the case of CBD full-spectrum oils, experts call it the entourage effect.

What are the benefits of CBD?
The same answers come up again and again. CBD is said to lessen pain, mitigate inflammation, help with epilepsy, reduce stress, relieve migraines and is even useful for those with sleeping disorders. The research world has been studying all of this closely for years. There are certainly hopeful voices coming from the ranks of science.
At the moment scientists are investigating whether CBD could be a helpful alternative to methods already proven to be successful in the fight against breast cancer. Even though different researchers are constantly coming up with promising indications, it is the long-term studies in particular that really need to confirm the validity of these earlier results once and for all.
